About Us
MountainTown Singers was founded in September 2004 with the dream of bringing men of all ages together in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to sing a cappella music.
Our mission is to foster and advance the art of barbershop harmony as a premier performing chorus of men of all ages. We will do this by 1) pursuing consummate singing, musicianship, and stage presence in public performance and in society competition, and 2) involving young men in a cappella quartet and chorus singing in our fun, growing, stimulating musical "family".
MountainTown Singers first competed in the Barbershop Harmony Society's Pioneer District convention in April 2005 and took Second Place. They went on to become District Champions in April of 2006 and again in 2009. In October of 2006 the women's auxiliary of the MountainTowners was formed.
At the Pioneer District Fall Convention in October of 2007 the MountainTown Singers sang their way to a standing ovation and became the 2008 Pioneer District international convention representatives. The chorus went on to compete in Nashville, TN in July 2008.
In October of 2008, the Mountaintown Singers did a repeat performance at the Pioneer District Fall Convention and became the 2009 Pioneer District international convention representatives. The chorus competed in Anaheim, CA. in July 2009.
October of 2009 again saw the MountainTown Singers repeat as Pioneer District champions. They will be the district's international representative in Philadelphia, PA. in July 2010.
